The Reverend Cordell E. Hunter, Presiding Elder -&- Sister Joan L. Walker-Hunter, First Lady EASTERN DISTRICT African Methodist Episcopal Church Second Episcopal District GOD our FATHER To My Illustrious Eastern District Team, I greet you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Although new to this assignment, the leadership team of this Marvelous District, Sis. Joan Walker-Hunter and I are very excited and petition God daily to empower us to be effective servants and instruments of God. Your continued prayers, support and suggestions are welcomed so that we can demonstrate authentic, relevant and progressive experiences of God's favor. I am thankful to the Bishop Adam Jefferson Richardson, Jr., for this appointment as Presiding Elder of the Eastern District. I accepted this awesome commission believing that with God all things are possible. I remain eternally grateful to Presiding Elder Emeritus Reverend Edward Cole Wilson who remains one of my mentors who were quite instrumental in securing my first pastoral assignment at Shiloh A.M.E. Church even as a Deacon. I am grateful to the Senior Presiding Elder, Reverend Ernest L. Montague, Sr., for being a contemporary sponsor and mentor, and an architect of a foundation for spiritual nurturing so that the spirit of the living God will fall fresh on us and provide us with an abundance of opportunity for service and of the living God will fall fresh on us and provide us with an abundance of opportunity for service and witness. There were others who paved the path for me such as Reverend Donald Howard Allen, Dr. M. Arthur Camper, Reverend John W. Duckett, Reverend Reginald Boston, Dr. Frank M. Reid and the late Presiding Elder Frederick Jones, Sr. My constant prayer is that we remain steadfast, unmovable and always abounding in the work of the Lord for as much as we know that our labor is not in vain in the Lord.
